Science
Canna-bin-oids are naturally occurring compounds in both the human body and the hemp plant. The once produced within the human body are called endo-cannabinoids. The once from the plant kingdom are known as phyto-cannabinoids. There are at least 113 different cannabinoids with varied effects, CBD is one of the most important and it makes up about 40% of the plant extract.
This is some of the cannabinoids that can be derived from plants, that all have a chemical structure of 53 atoms.
- Cannabichromenes (CBC)
- Cannabidiol (CBD)
- Cannabicyclol (CBL)
- Cannabinol (CBN)
- Other cannabinoids including Cannabitriol (CBT) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC)
Endocannabinoid System
In the 1990’s scientists discovered a powerful network inside the human body. This network is called the Endocannabinoid System or ECS. You can think of your ECS like an internal communications system between your brain and the central nervous system. The ECS main responsibility is to regulate some of our most important immune functions including inflammation, sleep and our stress and anxiety levels.
Throughout the entire endocannabinoid system you find "CB-2 receptors". The CB-2 receptors work like small locks to the endocannabinoid system. The key for these locks are cannabinoids.
For example, when CBD enters the body it will attache to the endocannabinoid system through the CB-2 receptors and then start helping the body regulate immune functions such as inflammation and sleep. When your ECS is working properly the body can find a state of homeostasis. That's when incredible things can happen, our nerves calm, our mood improves and our immune system functions optimally.
Hemp
Scientifically the hemp plant is known as Cannabis Sativa L, the L was added by the Swedish botanist Carl Von Linné when he first identified the difference between hemp and the cannabis sativa plant. One of the major differences is that hemp doesn’t produce enough of the psychoactive cannabinoid THC that makes you high. The lack of THC is why products containing only hemp extract, and no THC can be sold in stores and online.
Vitamin A
Vitamin A is a micronutrient that is crucial for maintaining vision, promoting growth and development, and protecting epithelium and mucus integrity in the body. Vitamin A is known as an anti-inflammation vitamin because of its critical role in enhancing immune functions.
Vitamin D
Vitamin D plays a critical role in promoting your immune response. It has both anti-inflammatory and immunoregulatory properties and it'ss crucial for the activation of immune system defenses. Vitamin D is known to enhance the function of immune cells, including T cells and macrophages that protect your body against pathogens. Low levels of vitamin D have been associated with increased susceptibility to infection and immune-related disorders.
Tumeric
This is a spice that should be added to everyone's flu prevention routine! Turmeric is a natural way to help the immune system by increasing the immunomodulating capacity of the body. Adding extra turmeric into your diet during periods of stress can help give your immune system a boost.
Ginger
Ginger is very antioxidant-rich, has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can enhance your immune responses.
Omega 3 + 6
We source our Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids from EU approved hemp seed oil.
Omega 3 & 6 fats are a crucial part of human cell membranes. They also have other important functions, including improving heart health. Omega-3 fatty acids can help manage cholesterol and blood pressure levels.
